About Us

We are an established Business, we have helped our clients recover thousands in SDLT claims.

How do I know if I've paid too much?

Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is the tax that you pay when you purchase a property or land over a certain price in the United Kingdom.

But SDLT can be unintentionally overlooked or miscalculated, and you could be eligible for Stamp Duty Tax Relief. The easiest way to find out if you are eligible, is to complete a FREE and confidential assessment with one of our advisors.

You may be due a HMRC Stamp Duty Refund.

Types of SDLT Returns

Stamp Duty Land Tax rates vary in England and Northern Ireland, and there are many factors that affect how much you pay. These factors can be easily missed by solicitors and conveyancers – which is why we’re here to help.

Uninhabitable Properties

Have you purchased a property that you could not move into straightaway due to any structural or major damage in the last 6 years?

Mixed Use Relief

FAQs

The reality of Stamp Duty is that it’s a tax that you are required to pay, it usually takes a tax specialist to make sure everything is calculated correctly, especially if you own multiple properties (residential and non-residential) or land.

There are a list of things that could of resulted in overpaying stamp duty, if for example you property has:

  • Woodlands, a lake or more than 3 acres of land

  • Outbuildings, annexes and studio barns (must be self-contained)

  • Farmland or agricultural land

  • Equestrian land

  • Historic building or ruins

This list is non-exhaustive, there are other exemptions which may relate to you.

Find out more about Stamp Duty Land Tax exemptions, or Contact our experts who can assess if you are eligible.

If you’re about to purchase a property or have purchased one in the last 4 years, then you could be eligible to claim a tax relief. (If you bought it more than 4 years ago HMRC won’t offer relief, but there are other avenues you can look at to get a tax reduction).

Solicitors and conveyancers are the norm when buying or selling a property, but they are not tax experts – at least 25% of people have overpaid and are due a refund.

Calculating what you’re actually owed and getting this back from HMRC are two completely different matters, you will need an expert like Stamp Duty Returns to examine your case.

Contact us today, our expert team can help calculate the amount of tax you’re due back from HMRC.

Almost everyone who purchases a property will have to pay stamp duty on the purchase, but there are exemptions. Conveyors and estate agents are not tax experts and 25% of home buyers will have overpaid.
